I have been exposed to many different types of artists who draw black women and what I noticed is that they keep them in two categories one being the American version of a black woman either ghetto or agressive then the other being women native to Africa still with an impoverished and downtrodden image. I find Elizabeth's reimaging of black women in historical settings to be refreshing I don't often see many black-based artists that portray black women in such an elegant yet powerful stance.
